Services & staff (Appointments)

Create services (name/duration/price/providers) and staff with their own working hours and optional self-service portal access.

The Appointments module books services delivered by employees (staff) in scheduled time slots. Services define what can be booked; employees define who delivers them and when.

Where: WP Admin → Tiger BookingServices and Tiger BookingEmployees.

Services

A service is the bookable offering that appears in the front-end booking flow and in the Appointment Services Grid widget. Each service holds:

  • Name and description — shown on cards and the booking form.
  • Duration (minutes) and an optional buffer time added after each booking so staff get a gap before the next slot.
  • Price — used at checkout and by the payments/deposit logic.
  • Location type and meeting type — e.g. in-person versus online, which drives video-meeting links where enabled.
  • Image and an active toggle to show or hide the service without deleting it.

Every service is also mirrored to a tiger_service custom post type, so it can be queried by Elementor and block widgets.

Employees (staff)

Under Employees you add the people who deliver services. Each employee record stores a name, role, email, phone, a profile image, an active flag, and the list of services they are qualified to deliver. Only qualified staff are offered for a given service in the booking flow.

Personal vs. institution mode

In SettingsAppointment the Business Structure control switches between two flows:

  • Personal mode — customers skip staff selection, the Employees section is hidden, and the booking flow uses your own name everywhere. Best for solo providers.
  • Institution mode — customers can pick a specific specialist, the Employees section is visible, and the flow uses your company name. Best for teams.

Staff portal

An employee can be given a portal login so they can sign in and manage their own calendar and bookings. Set a password on the employee record to enable portal access; the Has password and Portal enabled states show whether it is active. The portal path is configured in SettingsGeneral.

Putting it together

  1. Create your services with duration, price and buffer.
  2. Add employees and assign each the services they deliver (institution mode).
  3. Set each employee’s working hours in Availability so real slots can be generated.
  4. Publish the booking form (shortcode
or the widgets) so customers can book.

Troubleshooting

A service has no bookable times.

Slots come from staff working hours. Make sure at least one active employee is assigned to the service and has working hours set in Availability.

Customers can’t choose a staff member.

That is expected in Personal mode. Switch Business Structure to Institution in SettingsAppointment to expose staff selection.
