Enrollment & students

How students enrol — free, paid, or via a Membership plan's Course Access mapping — and how to manage enrollments and progress.

Students enroll in courses — for free, after a purchase, or through a membership plan — and then work through the curriculum in the lesson player. Enrollment, progress and completion all live in Tiger LMS’s own tables, with a single access chokepoint so gated lesson content is never exposed to someone who hasn’t enrolled.

Where: WP Admin → Tiger LMSStudents.

Enrollment paths

  • Free — on a free course the enroll button grants access in one click (the student must be logged in).
  • Paid — the student is enrolled automatically once a payment completes at checkout through a configured gateway.
  • Membership — with Tiger Membership installed, a plan’s course-access mapping auto-enrolls (and revokes) subscribers through the shared bridge. Revoking a membership is a soft revoke — it flips access off without deleting the student’s progress, so re-granting restores where they left off.

Managing students

The Students screen lists your learners and, for each one, the courses they’re enrolled in and their progress. From here you can:

  1. Enroll a student manually in a course — useful for comps, support cases, or offline sales.
  2. Remove a student’s access to a course.
  3. Review progress and completion state per course.

Progress is calculated from completed curriculum items. When a student reaches 100%, Tiger LMS fires the completion flow: the Course completed email is sent, and — if the course has a certificate template — a certificate is issued automatically.

How access is decided

Whether a student can open a lesson depends on their enrollment status for the parent course (plus any drip-release rule on the item). Because every read of gated content flows through the same access check, a lesson body, quiz or assignment is only ever served to an enrolled, entitled student — a design that keeps paid content from leaking through the public REST API.

Groups

To enroll a whole team at once, use Groups (a Pro feature). A group leader is given a number of seats and assigns them to members, who are then enrolled in the group’s courses. See the Groups & seats article for details.

Troubleshooting

A student paid but isn’t enrolled.

Check Tiger LMS → Orders for the order’s payment status. Enrollment is granted on a completed payment; if the order is still pending, the gateway webhook may not have been received — verify the webhook endpoint in Settings → Payments.

A membership subscriber can’t see their course.

Confirm Tiger Membership is active and the plan maps to that course. The bridge only grants access while the membership is active; an expired or cancelled plan soft-revokes access.
